  • How do I calculate one yard of gravel?

To calculate cubic yard of gravel, you need to measure the length, width, and depth of the area and then divide the total by 27 (since there are 27 cubic feet in a cubic

    yard).

First, ensure all measurements are in feet. Multiply length, width, and height to get cubic feet, then divide by 27 to obtain cubic yards.

    Here's a step-by-step guide:

    1. Measure the area: Determine the length, width, and depth of the area where you'll be placing the gravel. If the depth is given in inches, convert it to feet by dividing by 12.

    2. Calculate cubic feet: Multiply the length (in feet), width (in feet), and depth (in feet) to find the volume in cubic feet.

    3. Convert to cubic yards: Divide the total cubic feet by 27 to get the volume in cubic yards.

    Example:

Let's say you have a rectangle area 20 feet long, 10 feet wide, and 6 inches deep (0.5 feet, Depth = 0.5 feet

Therefore, you would need approximately 3.7 cubic yards of gravel for this area.
